PALESTINE, Texas (Oct. 2, 2018) – The Boil Water Notice for Clearview Drive has been rescinded. The following is the legal language.
Boil Water Rescind Notice
On Sept. 30, 2018, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system,City of Palestine Utilities Department, PWS ID 0010001 to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to inform our customers that due to the presence of contaminants or an interruption in service, water from our system must be boiled prior to consumption.
Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and/or bacteriological quality and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling as of Oct. 2, 2018.

Public Notice to Boil Water
Due to a water valve repair for residents in the area of Clearview Drive, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water system City of Palestine, PWS 0010001 to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.

PALESTINE, Texas (Sept. 12, 2018) – To coincide with the lifting of Anderson County’s burn ban, the City of Palestine will lift its burn ban effective 8 a.m. Wednesday, September 12.
Residents will be allowed to burn if they obtain a permit at one of the three Palestine Fire Stations:
• Station 1, 611 Avenue A
• Station 2, 107 7th Street
• Station 3, 518 Benbrook
Residents with burn permits will have to follow burning guidelines. For more information on burning within the city limits, call the fire department at 903-729-7100.
PALESTINE, Texas (September 10, 2018) – The Palestine Library Friends are having a Book Donation Day on Saturday, September 22 from noon to 2 p.m. The Friends ask that donations be brought to the Book Sale room at the Mall, 2000 S. Loop 256, Palestine, Texas to make transport easier for volunteers and staff.
The Library Friends need quality used books to sell at their October 12-13 Book Sale whose proceeds benefit the library. The Friends ask that the books be in good condition that would be appealing to buyers. The Library Friends also can be reached at 903-724-3195 to schedule a time to pick up boxes of books from special donations such as from estate sales. Thank you for your book donations and thank you to the Library Friends for their work benefitting Palestine Public Library.

PALESTINE, Texas (Sept. 7, 2018) – The Palestine Police Department has ended its enhanced traffic enforcement period during the Labor Day holiday. Officers worked a total of 16.5 hours on extra enforcement.
During the enforcement period, the following warnings and citations were issued:
• Speeding: 21 warnings, 19 citations
• Seatbelts: 4 citations
• Defective Equipment: 5 warnings
• Failure to Signal: 2 warnings
• No Driver’s License: 2 citations
• Expired Registration: 1 citation
The Palestine Police Department was awarded a STEP enforcement grant from the Texas Department of Transportation. The grant refunds the police department for the use of their officers and equipment for the additional enforcement.
