Welcome to the office of Emergency Management
About Emergency Management in Palestine
The Federal Emergency Management Agency defines emergency management is the managerial function charged with creating the framework within which communities reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters.
Another definition may be mitigating and preparing for natural or man-made emergencies, coordinating the response when they happen and expediting the recovery from them.
Emergency Management coordinates the efforts of first responders and others to minimize the impacts of any emergency. In the picture below, emergency management assumes a key role wherever the responsibilities for responding to two or more city departments/emergency services overlap.
Palestine's Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) is Scott Parkhurst. Scott is available to provide a brief presentation on emergency management to your group or organization. He can be reached at the information listed below.
Palestine is served by a system called "Code Red." Code Red allows residents to sign up for emergency or general notifications from the city on their cell or home phones as well as by email. There is no fee to sign up or use the Code Red service. However, standard messaging rates may apply. For additional information regarding Code Red, please contact the EMC. His contact information is at the bottom of this page. To sign up for Code Red, click on the image below.
