DEA and Palestine Police Department Announce 20th Take Back Day

Palestine, Texas (April 19, 2021)– With opioid overdose deaths increasing during the pandemic, the Drug Enforcement Administration
announces its 20th Take Back Day scheduled for April 24th. At its last Take Back Day in October, DEA collected a record-high amount of

Man Arrested for Multiple Felony Warrants

Police Arrest Two Following Narcotics Investigation

PALESTINE, Texas (January 29, 2021) – Palestine Police arrested two individuals following the execution of two search warrants early Thursday morning. 

Just after 6 a.m. on Thursday, January 28th, members of the PPD Criminal Investigations Division, PPD SWAT, Texas DPS, DEA and ASCO executed multiple search warrants as part of a joint investigation on a residence in the 300 blk. of Joe Louis St. and the 200 block of Douglas Street.
The Palestine Police Department began investigating activity at the residence following complaints in reference to drug trafficking at the two locations.
During the execution of the search warrants, Officers located the known suspects, identified as Lester Earl Anderson, 69 of Palestine and Charlotte Anderson, 55, of Palestine inside one of the residences. Both were detained without incident.
During a search of the residences, Officers located 1.5 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, 7 ounces of cocaine, numerous pills suspected to be Xanax and Soma, and one ounce of marijuana along with scales and baggies used in the sale of narcotics, and over ten thousand dollars in cash.
Both Lester Earl Anderson and Charlotte Anderson were booked into jail for the offenses.
  • Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 >= 400g in a Drug Free Zone-1st Degree Felony
  • Tampering with evidence
  • Possession of Marijuana < two ounces- Class B misdemeanor
The charges were enhanced due to the sale of narcotics in close proximity to Washington Early Childhood Development Center, a drug free zone.
“The Investigators did an outstanding job on shutting down these drug operations.” PPD Chief Mark Harcrow said. “Great teamwork between agencies led to the success in this investigation."
The Palestine Police Department was assisted by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

PPD Arrests Suspect After Assaulting Female and Officer

PALESTINE, Texas (August 3, 2020 )- Palestine Police have arrested an Oakwood man on multiple charges following an incident at the Palestine Wal-Mart on Saturday.

On Saturday, August 01, 2020, at approximately 7:17 PM, PPD Officers responded to a call of an assault at the Wal-Mart located at 2223 S. Loop 256 in Palestine. Officers arrived and the victim reported that an unknown black male poured a chemical, believed to be a cleaning solution, on her upper body and face while she shopped in the store. The victim, a 49 year-old Palestine resident, was accompanied by two small children during the incident. The victim did not know the suspect, who fled the scene following the assault. READ MORE

 


Palestine Police Arrest Two Following Armed Robbery

PALESTINE, Texas (June 12, 2020) – Two arrests have been made and a third suspect has been identified after an armed robbery in Palestine Thursday morning.

At 8:19 a.m. on Thursday, June 11th, Officers from the Palestine Police Department responded to the 2700 blk. of N. Jackson St. in reference to an armed robbery. The victim reported that one white male and one black male entered her residence and pointed a handgun at her. The suspects then removed several firearms from the residence and fled. Both suspects were reportedly wearing masks during the incident. READ MORE


Palestine Man Arrested in Weekend Murder

PALESTINE, Texas (June 8, 2020) – One man has died and another is hospitalized following a stabbing early Sunday Morning.

Just after midnight on Sunday, June 7th, Officers from the Palestine Police Department were dispatched to the 100 blk. of Ferguson Rd. in reference to an assault. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with Jose Vigil-Limon, 47, of Palestine. Upon contacting Jose, they found that he had severe lacerations to his face and hands. READ MORE
