Trash

The City of Palestine contracts with Waste Connections for weekly trash collection for residents and businesses within the city limits.  The City of Palestine transitioned to a once weekly trash collection service utilizing 96-gallon garbage carts on January 13, 2020.  Recycling materials may be dropped off at the Waste Connections Transfer Station located at 571 ACR 3694, Palestine, TX 75801 (see details below).

The decision to transition to the 96-gallon garbage carts, once weekly trash service, and to stop curbside recycling had been discussed during multiple City Council public meetings.  The citizens of Palestine had not been complying with preparation of recycling materials, and we had already been rejected by one recycling center due to levels of contamination of the products placed in our recycling bins.  The City only had one option for continuing curbside recycling service and it would have required a significant price increase to residents due to the delivery fees required to deliver the recycling products to a destination much farther away.

If you have questions about the Trash Collection Changes, you may contact Customer Service at 903-731-8400 or via e-mail at customerservice@palestine-tx.org.
