Lester Named First Female Captain in PPD History

PALESTINE, Texas (April 24, 2019) –  On Wednesday morning, Palestine Police Chief Andy Harvey announced the promotion of Jamie Lester to Captain. Cpt. Lester will serve as the Patrol Commander, overseeing operations.

Cpt. Lester joined the PPD in 2007 where she promoted to supervisor and served as a Field Training Officer in the Patrol Division. In 2012, Cpt. Lester joined the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office where she served as the Senior Sergeant over their Patrol Division. Cpt. Lester returned to the PPD in 2018.  Prior to her police career, Cpt. Lester served in Corrections with the TDCJ.

Cpt. Lester holds an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Trinity Valley Community College and is completing her bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Arlington. Cpt. Lester also holds an Advanced Peace Officer Certification. 

 

Cpt. Lester resides in Palestine, Texas with her 5 year old son, Kaden.

 

“I am excited about promoting Cpt. Lester to serve on our Command Staff.  She possesses strong leadership skills and has certain intangibles that just can’t be taught. In addition, Cpt. Lester is the first female to serve on the Command Staff in PPD’s rich history. We should all be excited about our future,” said Chief Harvey.
