PALESTINE, Texas (02/09/2021) – The City of Palestine is pleased to announce that the Palestine Farmers Market is under new management. In November 2020, the City of Palestine sent out a request for proposals for a market manager. After reviewing submissions, Roger and April Shaner were selected to facilitate the market going forward.

The Shaner’s, owners of Naturally Persnickety Cottage Bakery, have previous experience with other farmers markets in the DFW area. They have developed a two year plan to once more build the Palestine market into a popular city attraction. April notes, “Over the past year, farmers markets have become essential businesses. A thriving market not only boosts the economy, but can insulate it against food insecurity during a global pandemic or even a trucking strike.”

"We eagerly welcome this transition. We are so excited to have April and Roger downtown! I know they will be able to invest the time and energy the market needs to thrive." Says Cori Conrad, Main Street Coordinator.

The market will kick off the spring season on Saturday, March 27, 2021. There are booths available to rent for local garden clubs/master gardeners, farmers, and artisans (bakers, craftspeople, jam makers, etc.). They are also welcoming buskers (live musicians) and food truck owners to set up as well.

Space is limited, so if interested, please send a message via text to April Shaner at (817)637-2687.
